Tokyo, Japan, December 24, 2025 – ArkEdge Space Inc. (“ArkEdge Space”), a Japanese space startup based in Tokyo that provides comprehensive solutions from planning and design to mass production and operation of micro-satellite constellations, today announced its selection under the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) Space Strategy Fund Program as an On-Orbit Demonstration Provider supporting coordinated domestic launch opportunities.
The Space Strategy Fund Program is a national initiative designed to strengthen the competitiveness of Japan’s space industry by accelerating the development and real-world application of advanced space technologies. The program promotes innovation through collaboration among industry, academia, and government, while providing structured access to on-orbit demonstration opportunities.
Role as an On-Orbit Demonstration Provider
ArkEdge Space will offer users on-orbit demonstration opportunities in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) using its standardized 6U micro-satellite platform [1], integrating user-developed payloads. The company will support the full demonstration process, including end-to-end solutions from satellite design and manufacturing, launch coordination, communications through ground station services and on-orbit operations.
In a typical case, ArkEdge Space can provide a demonstration schedule targeting launch within approximately two years from initial consultation, offering research institutions and companies a practical pathway to test and validate their emerging technologies and services in orbit.
Looking Ahead
Through this registration, ArkEdge Space will work within the framework of the Space Strategy Fund Program, advancing on-orbit demonstrations of a wide range of satellite payloads and space utilization technologies in collaboration with stakeholders. The company will also support the transition from technical validation to operational development through scalable and accessible on-orbit demonstration services.
[1] The standardized 6U micro-satellite platform is the result of a research and development project supported by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) under its Space Industry Technology Information Infrastructure Development Program. The project focused on the development and demonstration of a standardized 6U satellite bus and its associated production and operational systems to enable rapid and efficient multi-satellite manufacturing.
