Deep Space Exploration

Challenge to New Frontiers

The area of human activity is expanding beyond the near-Earth region to include planets, comets and other deep space regions. We will contribute to a society in which numerous deep space explorations can be realized, by developing and operating small spacecraft capable of achieving innovative and diverse deep space exploration missions.

High-Reliability, High-Quality Satellite Bus Systems and Operation Services

Our Deep space projects involve engineers who played a central role in the development and operation of the small probe EQUULEUS.EQUULEUS, one of the ten CubeSats launched in Artemis I, has achieved notable success in cislunar space. The technologies honed through this project are applied to our deep space exploration missions.

Comet Interceptor

Comet Interceptor is a project led by the European Space Agency, in collaboration with JAXA. It aims to directly explore a long-period comet or an interstellar object for the first time.In this project, one main spacecraft and two sub-spacecraft will be launched in 2029 and will perform a flyby of a long-period comet by 2035. JAXA will provide one small spacecraft (Probe B1, 35kg), and on November 14, 2022, ArkEdge Space was selected as the contractor for the development of this probe. This marks the first occasion of a Japanese space startup undertaking the development of a deep space probe for JAXA.

Future Prospects for Deep Space Exploration

We are exploring various avenues to regularly deploy numerous micro-probes into the new frontier of deep space. This initiative aims to gather a wealth of scientific knowledge and valuable information, benefiting both the economy and society.

In the future, we will construct deep space constellations using small spacecraft, undertake high-risk, high-reward missions that are infeasible with a single large spacecraft, and conduct multi-point scientific observations with multiple probes. Through these efforts, we contribute to the success of more challenging deep space missions, by leveraging the unique characteristics of our platform’s size.
