Tokyo, Japan, April 8, 2026 – ArkEdge Space Inc. (“ArkEdge Space”), a Tokyo-based space start-up delivering micro-satellite constellations from design to operations, today announced the signing of a comprehensive collaboration agreement with Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan (President: Toru Ando). The agreement focuses on advancing education and research, talent development, and industry–academia collaboration centered on satellite development and the use of satellite data.
Through this partnership, the two organizations will integrate satellite systems, satellite data, and geospatial information to support practical research and education initiatives and contribute to addressing societal challenges.
Areas of Collaboration
Under the agreement, ArkEdge Space and Ryukoku University will collaborate in the following areas:
・Joint initiatives in education and research
・Talent development and academic exchange programs
・Promotion of industry–academia collaboration
・Other areas of mutual interest
In particular, the partnership will emphasize practical education and research through the integrated use of satellite data and geospatial information.
Future Outlook
Ryukoku University plans to establish a new Faculty of Informatics (tentative name) and a Faculty of Environmental Sustainability (tentative name) in April 2027, strengthening its education and research capabilities in sustainability and environmental domains.
In alignment with these developments, ArkEdge Space will collaborate with the university to leverage satellite data in addressing global-scale challenges, including environmental issues.
Looking ahead, the partnership will also explore collaboration with planned industry–academia innovation hubs, promoting co-creation with a diverse range of partners to generate new value.
